Giving Ten Times Thanks To My Blog. Twice Over.
It’s Thanksgiving Day in the US and I want to use the opportunity to express my gratitude to my blog — and to you, its readers and subscribers.
A little over a year ago, when physical weakness from illness and treatment took me away from my normal writing activities and made me question every aspect of my life and work, I began this blog.
It took me a while to hit on the topic of Creative Intelligence and I still have a lot of improvements I want to make. I’m no pro-blogger, I’m a writer, very versed in old media – books, magazines, newspapers – and immersed in their ways. I still have lots to learn about this unstructured and sometimes overwhelming medium.
But I love it. I absolutely love it. For me it’s the
perfect antidote to what used to be the downsides to the writing life.
So today I want to give thanks. Firstly to you, the readers and subscribers who have kept me writing here for the past fifteen months. Thank you:
- for reading
- for signing up to read more
- for writing to tell me about your appreciation or about own creative challenges and successes. I love hearing from you.
- for buying signed copies of A Dance in Time as a gift to yourself or others. Thanks also:
- for choosing to go creative,
- for being open, honest and willing, so that your creative intelligence doesn’t get closed off,
- for caring enough to stop, look, listen, notice,
- for wanting to make a difference,
- for knowing or sensing that imagination is not icing on life’s cake but the oven in which it’s baked,
- for working your talents, so that life’s gift to you can be your gift to life
In addition, I also want to thank my beloved blog itself:
- for having no limits — word counts, deadlines or, most significantly, censorship. Especially the self-censorship that every freelance writer must learn in order to be published.
- for being instant. (It takes me five years to write my 600-page novels)
- for being forgiving – no matter if the blog is not perfect today, I can do better tomorrow. (It’s not between two hardcovers on a library shelf screaming ‘how did you not notice THIS?’).
- for letting me be me.
- for allowing me full control within my woeful-but-improving technological limitations.
- for connecting me to readers, colleagues and clients all over the world.
- for helping me redefine and refine my sense of mission, in life and in work
- for giving birth to a new book, nonfiction this time: the forthcoming Go Creative: It’s Your Native State.
- for honing my creative intelligence
- for being something that I can trust to hold me for better or worse, through sickness and health, poverty and wealth — no matter what else is going on in my writing and in my life.
Yes, it looks like me and the blog are in this together until death does us part.
I hope you’ll continue to stick around and join in.
