Monthly Creative Planning Session August 2020

The theme of his month’s creative planning session is “Creative Marketing Plan”. We’ll be putting together a Creative Marketing Plan. Planning your month so your book marketing is not something that takes away from precious writing, crafting and making time–but something that supplements and supports it.

Last month: you set your intentions for the coming quarter (Q3 2020) and filled out a SWOT evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of your author business, and the threats and opportunities that are live for you at the moment. If you need a recap, you’ll find last month’s workshop and downloadable SWOT evaluation forms here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/38706294
This month: we’re going to do a recap of the three hats an indie author must wear and take a deep dive into creative marketing.

Orna RossCreative Marketing Workshop: Introduction

Whenever I hear a writer say they “love writing but hate marketing”, my heart slumps. It’s a notion that’s responsible for more creative business failure than any other.

The truth is that writing can be cranked out in a very rote, uncreative, commercial way while all the tasks of publishing—yes, including marketing—can take an author on a thrilling creative ride that offers every opportunity to be innovative, imaginative and expressive.
That’s what we’re going to be looking at this week, putting together a Creative Marketing Plan.
This is something you can, and should, be doing even if you haven’t yet finished your first book. You’ll see how much you can learn, from trying to communicate with your reader through shorter forms, and other media (audio, video)–and how much this improves your book(s).

Creative Marketing Workshop: Planner

You’ll be provided with a downloadable PDF document in zoom, which you will use during the workshop. You will leave with a completed marketing plan for August.
