THEME

Are you looking forward to the creative week ahead? Do you know what you intend to create this week? It’s a holiday weekend here in the UK, the last of the summer and our theme for creative flow practice this week will be: How Creatives Go Wild.

And below, as ever, is the map of my creative intentions for my author business for this week (Week 35 Q3 2019), under the hats a creative entrepreneur must wear: maker, manager, marketer.

Creative Flow Practice Theme: Week 35, 2019: How Creatives Go Wild

Karl Marx once said religion was the opium of the masses. Today it’s shopping, social media, narcotizers: drugs and drink and food.

Our worldly world, built around the creative intention of profit, encourages us, trains us to think we want these things and experiences–but their overall impact is actually to tame us.

They leach us of creative energy and numb our inner callings towards the wild, the weird and the wonderful.

This week our creative flow practice takes the theme of wildness and how creatives go wild. In inspiration meditation and F-R-E-E-Writing we’ll be exploring questions like:

  • As creatives, how do we stay in relationship with the wildness that’s so important to us
  • What conditions in our lives lead us towards the wild, which lead us away?
  • How do feed our need for the wild without descending into chaos? Or chasing one dream after another?
  • At a practical level, how can we get out into the wild more often, meet spirit in the wild, find the wild places and spaces near our homes?

In short, how do we keep wildness alive in us, even as we grow our businesses, make an income, balance the needs of work and loved ones and our wider life?

How creatives go wild.

That’s what we’ll be exploring in our flow practice this week.

Mapping Creative Intentions Week 35, 2019

In our Go Creative! in Business group, each Monday we outline our creative intentions to each other. And then we follow up on a Saturday with what we’ve actually accomplished during the week. What’s unique about our group is that our report is given under the three hats a creative entrepreneur must wear: that of Maker (who produces), Manager (who processes) and Maximizer (who promotes). Join the group to map your intentions and log your accomplishments.

Going Wild

Here are my intentions for the coming week:

  • MAKER: Two more chapters of Creative Self-Publishing.
  • MANAGER: New Home Page and Downloads on OrnaRoss.com
  • MARKETER: Enter two poetry competitions.

That’s what I’ll be up to in my author business. What about you? What will you be producing, processing or promoting this week?

Do pop over to our Go Creative! in Business Facebook group, where we support and motivate each other. It’s completely free, there’s no selling or self-promotion, and you can leave anytime if it isn’t the right fit for you. You’ve nothing to lose and it may be just the creative boost you need.

If you’ve been motivated, moved or inspired by my writing or any of my work, please consider becoming a patron.
