Our theme for our Monday Motivator 2019 Week 10 is Step Forward Then Step Back. Do your work, then drop it. (See below)
Monday Motivator Week 10: Facebook Group
In our Go Creative! in Business group, each Monday we outline our creative intentions to each other. And then we follow up on a Saturday with what we’ve actually accomplished during the week.
Accountability groups like this have been shown to greatly aid focus and productivity.
What’s unique about our group is that our report is given under the three hats a creative entrepreneur must wear: that of Maker, Manager and Maximizer. More on that here: The Successful Creative Entrepreneur’s Three Jobs: Maker, Manager and Maximizer. I also reproduce my intentions below, as people have found it useful to see examples of the three types.
Monday Motivator Week 10: Step Forward Then Step Back
There is a rhythm to conscious creation. It’s not all relentless push. Just like we breathe in and out, after we consciously create, we do best to then consciously rest.
If we don’t, we get caught in the work we’ve just done. How it could have been better. What others might think of it. What it cost us, in time or thought or money, to make.
All a waste, leaching creative energy.
If instead, we rest, do something completely different to our daily work, in no time we find new energy rising for a new project. It happens spontaneously, we don’t have to reach for it. We’re restored, ready for creative output again.
Do your work, then let it go. Step forward, then step back.
Go Creative! Intentions: Week 10 2019, Commencing March 4th
So my creative intentions this week, in my publishing business, wearing my three hats are:
- MAKER (Producing): This month’s exclusive poem for my Patreon patrons, blurbs and ads for my creative planner.
- MANAGER (Processing): Get new websites ready for testing.
- MAXIMIZER (Positioning): Q&A interview with Regina Joyce Clarke, of this parish. Preparing for the London book fair, including my reading there.
Monday Motivator Week 10: What About You?
That’s what I’ll be up to. What about you? What will you be producing (Maker), processing (Manager) or positioning (Maximizer) this week?
Share your creative intentions and accomplishments in our Go Creative! in Business Facebook group, where we support and motivate each other.
Pre-order Three Pathways To Profit for Creative Entrepreneurs: Practice, Process, Positioning. I now use the “Pre-Order Marketing Method” devised for indie authors. As soon as we hit 1000 pre-orders, I’ll release the book.
