Do you know enough about copyright?
Independent authors are writers and publishers managing our own publishing rights. A basic understanding of copyright law is fundamental to our ability to make good publishing decisions.
- Our income derives from our copyright.
- Copyright law gives us the right to control publication and licensing of our work.
- Thanks to copyright, we can decide when to license those rights, to whom, and on what terms.
ALLi’s Copyright Bill of Rights sets out copyright fundamentals from an author perspective, in order to inform and educate authors, publishers, other stakeholders, and policy makers on the contemporary copyright environment and issues arising for independent authors.
It also offers ALLi’s interpretation and recommendations of what authors and readers most need from copyright law, policy, and practice today.
