Repeal the Eight: Vote on May 25th

This blog is usually a politics-free zone but this is an appeal to Irish friends to vote “Yes” this day next week, on May 25th, when Ireland goes to the referendum polls (yet again). This time we will learn whether Ireland has finally grown up enough to trust its women. There are a thousand good arguments as to why Yes is the right way to vote on in this referendum, which you can read here. An Amendment That Should Never Have Happened I no longer have an Irish vote, if I did I would go home to do my part in seeing…

Be More Creative… This week with Italo Calvino

“The inferno of the living is not something that will be; if there is one, it is what is already here, the inferno where we live every day, that we form by being together. There are two ways to escape suffering it. The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of inferno, are not inferno. Then make them endure, give them space.” ― Italo Calvino, Invisible…

Go Creative! UK Retreat 2013

By Orna Ross If you are in — or can easily get to — the UK at the beginning of October, I’m giving a Go Creative! retreat in Norfolk. Identify the seven stages of the creative process and how they operate in your life right now — and how to work with them. Work with F-R-E-E-Writing, Inspiration Meditation and Expressive Exercises, three…

The Cocoon of Creation

I would, except… Cocoon Nebula …I don’t have time. …I need to be near the sea. …I have to get up early with the children. The reasons people give for not creating what they want to create are legion but they all have one thing in common: none of them is the real reason. However it may appear on the outside, nobody Read More
